"If there were a drug that could do for human health everything that exercise can, it would likely be the most valuable pharmaceutical ever developed."
I came across the above article while doing exercise research for a client. I am truly excited about the information that has already come to light about the effects of regular exercise and chronic disease. Just last night, NBC Nightly News aired a story on the benefits of exercise and colon cancer that showed compelling results.
This year the National Institute of Health will begin a six year, $170 million dollar study of the effects on the body in motion with the hopes of proving that exercise is medicine. I highly recommend not waiting for this study to wrap up before starting an exercise routine!
As a health coach I get excited about helping people find an exercise program that they really love and the benefits they experience after incorporating this lifestyle change! Not all of us are marathon runners and we don't have to be. One can see a positive change in their overall health by adding activities that keep the heart pumping for a recommended 30 minutes, 5 days a week.
